OUR STORY
According to groomswoman, Rachel Matthews
I wasn’t trying to play match maker when I introduced Nathan and Easton, but I am so, so happy they have found each other. It’s rare, their kind of love. It’s actionable, visible, and all encompassing. When I watch the two of them together, I’m reassured that we can all do hard things. That we can all grow and be better people. That we can love the little things. That it doesn't matter when you lose your luggage en route to visit your wedding venue when you have each other.
Let me take you back to November 2020 during everyone’s least favorite season: election--not to be confused with Nathan's favorite season (Oscar) or Easton's (Christmas). My college roommate and Easton's dearest Denverite, Heidi, and I unwittingly introduced Easton (then living in Denver) and Nathan (in Los Angeles) over Zoom as we watched the returns together. It wasn't until a year into their courtship that Easton realized the handsome man on the other end of the Zoom call was Nathan.
During his first week as an official Angeleno, Easton met me for dinner in West Hollywood. I brought Nathan along knowing they'd get along. But it wasn’t until Nathan’s birthday party a few months later that I realized just how much. Even though Easton both misinterpreted the theme AND had to frantically call his brother for advice on the birthday card, he still won Nathan over with his unending charisma. The card, for those of us following along at home, read, “looking forward to all of the future fun and fellowship.” And Easton was dressed like this:
In Easton's defense, the party was themed M. Nate Shyamalan, in honor of the box office flop, OLD (2021). This only makes sense as a birthday theme if you really know Nathan, and Easton didn't quite yet.
They planned to watch a movie on their first official date at Easton's house, but, instead, they sat and talked for hours over chicken wraps and a bottle of wine. During their second date, Nathan misunderstood Easton's request for soup dumplings and ordered dumpling soup. To this day, soup dumplings are a weekly order in their household. Simple pleasures and quality time are still tenets of their relationship.
For over three years, Nathan and Easton have built a gorgeous life together in their beautiful Los Angeles home, made only more beautiful by Easton’s creative eye--you should see the guest bedroom and the living room armchairs, seriously. From their travels home to Dallas and Chicago to gallivanting around Europe, they’ve built a life that values both simplicity and adventure. While they have many incredible trips under their belt, what they cherish most is time together curled up on the sofa with their certified best boy--and my dog’s best friend--Monty.
Their relationship works because while so different, their core values remain the same. Easton is fiercely loyal to his family and friends, while Nathan's empathy knows no bounds. Nathan's passion for cooking and subsequent recipe hurricane is perfectly matched by Easton's genuine willingness to do all of the dishes, knowing a messy kitchen means a meal borne of love. Nathan's meticulous itineraries would never be fully realized without Easton's relentless energy to get them from point A to point B. They are equally happy to try a five star restaurant as they are to drive around Los Angeles--well, for Easton to drive around Los Angeles--looking for authentic Texas queso. Spoiler alert: they're still looking.
I’ve been calling this wedding my Super Bowl event before Nathan proposed in Chicago before last Christmas. And now we FINALLY get to countdown until their wedding day! I can’t wait for you all to celebrate their love next year the way I have been fortunate enough to do since 2021. Cheers to the future Freyman-Sinclairs! To a lifetime of fun and fellowship!
